A mixture of the Taino, African and European culture, this Diablo Cojuelo mask embodies the Semi Gods of the Indigeous Tainos of the Dominican Republic.

Punta Cana Cojuelos do not have protruding eyes or bloody teeth, they are a little more friendly to the tourist eyes.

This is the traditional Roba la Gallina figure.  Present in all carnivals, in all provinces of the Dominican Republic.  Roba la Gallina (means chicken robbers), when she appears everyone chants, "Roba la Gallina, Palo con Ella." Very famous character in the Dominican Carnival.

The Santo Domingo Capital Cojuelos are a little more elegant in their style, they do not show their teeth and bring a mysterious intrigue to their movements.
